About us News We need your help now more than ever! A couple of weeks ago we shared with you that one of the dogs Carrie had been hiding a secret and was actually pregnant. Poor Carrie is only a young dog herself and as she got closer to the puppies being due we noticed she was becoming more lethargic than expected and not wanting to eat, which was very unlike her! She was closely monitored by our vets and when a scan showed the pups heart rates were dropping, the decision was made for Carrie to have an emergency c section. Following this, Carrie has had a difficult week, blood test showed she was anemic and the team at the centre and our vets have been giving her extra care and support to look after her pups. We are pleased to say she is starting to feel much better, and her appetite has picked up today. She is being a dedicated Mum, and we are delighted that all of her seven chunky, lively pups are thriving! Chelsea, Cindy, Carmen, Connie, Captain, Corky and Chester have already more than doubled their birth weight and are warm and content. We dread to think what could have happened to Carrie and her puppies if she hadn't been found when she was and we were able to provide her with the care she needed. We can also ensure this will be her last litter and that her and her puppies can go on to live as a much loved family members. What can you do to help? It takes a village to nurture these puppies here at Hope Rescue and our costs keep rising and rising as we see more puppies coming in than ever before. Heating, bedding, feeding, vet checks, electrolytes and cuddles all add up very quickly - not only for the pups, but to ensure Carrie continues to receive the much needed love and care to nurse her back to health before she can be found her forever home. Anything you can give to Hope in our 20th year will go towards our continued mission to make sure these amazing dogs get the future they deserve. We’re always in need of whelping and puppy foster homes for dogs like Carrie, if you are interested in fostering please get in touch.
