This August, we’re celebrating 20 incredible years of Hope Rescue and we’re inviting you to be part of the journey by stepping up for rescue dogs in need.

We’re challenging our amazing supporters to ‘Step your way to 20K’ and walk 20,000 steps, whether that’s in 20 days of August or just one day, to help us continue providing life-changing support and care for the most at-risk dogs in our community.

Option 1: Walk 20,000 steps in 20 days in August, that’s a whopping 400,000 steps in total!
Option 2: Pick one day in August to hit your 20,000-step goal, every step still counts!

Registration is free, and as a thank you, we’ll send you a pair of doggy socks so you can show your support with every stride.

We’d love for each walker to get sponsored to raise vital funds and awareness for Hope Rescue. Can you hit a £200 fundraising goal? If you hit your target, we'll send you a Hope Rescue beanie hat as a thank you! 

Each participant who reaches their target, will be entered into a prize draw and at the end of the challenge, and one lucky walker will win a brand-new sports watch!

Why 20K for 20 years?

Every step you take will help us continue our mission to protect dogs in crisis, support struggling pet owners, and promote responsible pet ownership. Whether you walk, run, or dance your way through the day, every 20,000-step milestone will make a real difference.

The challenge runs throughout August and is open to all ages and abilities.

Participants can take part individually or form teams with friends, family, or colleagues.

Events Fundraiser Cheryl George said: “Reaching our 20th anniversary is a huge milestone, and we wanted to mark it with something meaningful.

“Since 2005, Hope Rescue has been a lifeline for stray, abandoned, and vulnerable dogs across South Wales. Now, as we mark two decades of hope, healing, and second chances, we’re asking our community to step up – literally – and help us go even further.

“By taking part in the ‘20K, 20 days, 20 years’ challenge, you’ll not only be celebrating with us – you’ll be standing up for animals in need and helping us create another 20 years of hope.”

You’ll be helping support dogs like Kevin, a 3 year old German Shepherd who we found collapsed on the side of the road, emaciated and unable to walk. The dedicated team here at Hope Rescue rescued Kevin, took him for emergency vet treatment then settled him in at our rescue centre in Llanharan to recuperate.    

                                  

Following a careful diet, extensive medical treatment, physiotherapy along with a huge dose of love and care, Kevin has come on leaps and bounds, gaining weight steadily as well as strength to hold his weight.

Recently, Kevin was well enough to move into one of our fantastic foster homes where he is thriving and living his best life with a loving family whilst we search for his forever home.

Every penny really would make the world of difference to this small but might South Wales charity.

£5 could feed a dog for a day waiting for their forever home

£10 could flea and worm a puppy born at the rescue centre

£20 could provide a foster kit including food, bedding and toys

£50 would pay for one of our abandoned dogs to get an urgent vet check

£100 means our team could provide a mobile community clinic with one of our vet partners to dog owners in the local area
