Scrabble’s arrival this week is yet another sad sign of the times. At just five months old this poor chap was found straying locally near our rescue centre.

Luckily, a member of the public was able to catch him safely and took him to the nearest vets. He has incredibly sore and itchy skin caused by mites and a heavy flea burden which appears to have gone untreated for some time.

He is a very sweet chap but very timid at the moment and experiencing significant discomfort.

Scrabble is now receiving treatment including antibiotics and medicated baths and will be moving to a foster home for some extra TLC in the coming days.

Once his skin is on the mend, Scrabble will also need to undergo surgery to remove all his puppy teeth as they have not fallen out as his adult teeth came through meaning he now has two rows of teeth, making eating and chewing more awkward for him.

These issues are not simple fixes and it’s going to take a long time get him back to full health, but here at Hope – we’re committed to providing Scrabble, and all the dogs in our care with the best start to their news lives with a Hope adopter!

We’re busier than we’ve ever been and there is no sign of let up any time soon. We have a £20,000 hole in our budget from our enormous vets’ bills over the last few weeks.

We really do need your help with these additional costs.
