Trek for Hope

Join us for our first ever Trek for Hope this September. This 22km (13 mile) trek through the heart of South Wales is more than just a walk; it is a journey through ancient forests, over dramatic ridge lines, and across rolling commons that will leave you feeling empowered and inspired. This is an incredible route which rewards every ounce of effort with breathtaking views and a profound sense of peace.

The Journey Begins

Your adventure starts in Llanharan, where you’ll gently climb away from the valley and into a world of greenery. The initial stretch guides you toward the quiet beauty of Mynydd Meiros, offering an immediate escape into nature. As you progress, you’ll find yourself walking toward Mynydd y Gaer, an ancient landscape that feels like it’s whispering stories of the past.

Into the Wild

The route then dips and rises toward Blackmill and the lush canopy of Ogmore Forest. This is a truly magical section of the walk; the air is fresh, and the towering trees provide a sense of sanctuary. 

The High Ground

From the forest, you’ll traverse the high ground near Gilfach Goch. The views from these ridgelines are spectacular, stretching across the valleys toward Tonyrefail. You aren't just walking a trail; you are conquering the heights of the Rhondda and Ogwr valleys, and the sense of accomplishment is incredible.

The Homeward Stretch

As you begin your descent back toward the finish, you’ll pass through the serene landscapes of Mynydd Portref and Mynydd Maendy. The path leads you past the historic remains of St. Peter’s Church, a poignant reminder of the area's deep roots.

The final leg brings you back toward Llanharan, weary in body perhaps, but completely rejuvenated in spirit. You’ll finish this journey knowing you’ve seen the very best of the local  Welsh hills.

Registration is £30 per person and includes a breakfast roll and once you reach £150 in sponsorship, you will receive a limited edition Hope Rescue water bottle AND when you reach your £250 target you will be able to wear your Hope Rescue breathable top with pride.
